Why not kick off summer with a 4th of July Swim Spa party? If you have a swim spa, you may view it as a place to relax or get some great exercise. However, it turns out a swim spa is also a terrific focal point for a summer party. Obviously, any party takes a bit of planning and we have some ideas on how to make yours a total success. We recommend that you keep the guest list small, keep the menu simple, and get ready to have a blast over the long holiday weekend. Here are some tips to make your party a big splash.
Prepare Your Swim Spa in Advance
You will certainly want to prepare your swim spa ahead of time so it is pristine and inviting to your guests. Take time to balance the water and perhaps even shock it so it is clean and sparkling for the party. The better prepared your water is in advance of the party, the easier your clean-up will be afterward.
The Menu
Keep your menu All-American and easy. Grilled hot dogs and sausages are popular with everyone. Set up a “Fixin’s” station with all your favorite toppings: pickles, mustard, catsup, relish, onions, etc. Grilled corn or a pasta salad makes a nice side. Don’t forget the sliced watermelon and a red, white, and blue dessert. Keep your drinks cold in a bucket of ice or in a red or blue cooler. Lastly, be sure to have plenty of napkins and wet wipes on hand for sticky fingers.
The Decor
Celebrate the USA with a colorful red, white, and blue banner — DIY or from the dollar store. Change out your potted plants near the spa with red geraniums, blue petunias, and white vincas or calibrachoa. Arrange a simple centerpiece for your buffet table with small American flags and patriotic pinwheels displayed in mason jars. Both practical and colorful, are baskets of plastic tableware and stacks of disposable paper goods in your theme colors.
Fun Activities for All Ages
Kids are drawn to water like bees to honey, but we need to keep their safety in mind. Adult supervision is essential as are some basic safety rules. No pushing, running, diving, or glassware in the swim spa. Make sure everyone understands the rules, then get set to have fun. Colorful beach balls are a nice touch that adds festivity to the decor and also gives the kids something to play with.
As popular as the water will be, your guests won’t want to be in it every minute. It is a great idea to have some lawn activities available for kids and adults alike. Bean bag toss, bocce ball, and croquet are a big hit for everyone. If space allows, have some frisbees on hand for some lively tossing. They make excellent party favors as well!
Extras
The thoughtful host will plan for having some extra items on hand. Plenty of towels and sunscreen are a must. Keep everyone hydrated with a good supply of bottled water. Also, there is nothing like music to create a party atmosphere, so have fun planning a playlist of your favorite tunes ahead of time.
